Nicholas Gunn is a 21-year-old Berrien Springs High School graduate attending Andrews University, majoring in communication with an emphasis in journalism & public relations.
In 2022, Nicholas was awarded Andrews University's George Floyd Scholarship for his leadership and dedication to community service. In 2023 he also received the The Spirit of Martin Luther King Jr. Award from Lake Michigan College for his outstanding contributions to the community as someone who exemplifies unity and leadership.
Nicholas is a cadet firefighter for St. Joseph Charter Township Station No. 2, a board member for the Benton Harbor Arts Association, a member of Corewell Health South's Community Advocate Committee, a Co-Chairman of the Fresh Start Children's Garden in Benton Harbor, board member of the Benton Harbor Girls Academy, and a member of both Andrews University's Community Engagement Committee and the Unified Civic Monuments Curriculum Council.
He also serves as a Collegiate Student Advisory Task Force Member for Michigan's secretary of state.
During his senior year of high school, Nick organized an after-school Bible study, which grew to more than 120 students, meeting regularly and volunteering with local organizations. The program remains active on Instagram with over 700 followers as Nick continues to motivate others to serve and be a beacon of hope in their community.
He is a volunteer Bible study teacher at Pioneer Memorial Church and volunteer organizer for TruDat Praise & Worship, focusing on concerts and faith-based events.
Nick currently works as the Junior Editor of the Benton Spirit Newspaper, Radio personality for WAUS 90.7, writer for Andrews Universities Office of Communications. He also is also a frequent contributor for Moody on the Market and the Lake Union Herald.
Nick was named to Moody on the Markets' 40 under 40 Class of 2022. At 18, he is the youngest recipient to receive that honor. He was also Mr. Benton Harbor for the year of 2022.
In 2024 Nicholas Gunn received the Best Student Communicator Award from the society of adventist communicators For his outstanding leadership and excellence in journalism. Nicholas is also the Communications Coordinator for the City of Benton Harbor, along with other businesses and non profits in Southwest Michigan.
He also played a key role in developing The Pillar, a magazine dedicated to sharing powerful stories of fatherhood within the community. More than just a source of inspiration, The Pillar serves as a vital resource, connecting fathers with the support they need. Nicholas firmly believes that neither a family nor a community can truly thrive without strong, healthy fathers, and his efforts with Present Pillars reflect his commitment to uplifting and empowering them.
In Nick's free time he enjoys going on bike rides and going on adventures across Southwest Michigan for his YouTube channel and website called Nickeats.org. Where he and his friends visit local restaurants and highlight local businesses.
